It is my pleasure to be teaching fourth grade at Clough Elementary School. This year will mark my twenty-third year in the Mendon-Upton District and my twenty-fifth year of teaching. Prior to coming to this district I had the opportunity to teach second graders in Somerville, MA.
In 1997, I began teaching fourth grade at Memorial School in Upton. I continued teaching fourth grade for the next six years. In 2003, I returned in the fall as one of the Math Specialists in our district. I shared this fascinating job with a close friend and colleague, Marie Brigham. In 2004, I continued as the Math Specialist with the continued support of Mrs. Brigham, as she returned to the classroom. In 2005, I joined the staff at Clough as a third grade teacher. In 2015, we (Mrs. Brigham and Mrs. Cote) asked if we could teach fourth grade and here we are in fourth grade...my favorite grade! I am so happy and fortunate to come to work here every day!
I am a 1994 graduate of Regis College, in Weston, MA. I graduated from Regis with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and certification to teach Elementary Grades 1-6. After teaching for a few years I began to pursue my Master's Degree at Framingham State College. In 2001, I received my Master's Degree in Curriculum Design and Instructional Technology.
In April of 2002, I married my husband, Richard. We live in Norton, MA, with our 2 children, Christopher, 16, and Katie, 12. My family means the world to me and you will soon get to know them well since I tend to talk about them often! Although, Norton may seem far from Mendon, it really is only about 35-40 minutes. It is central to our jobs and our families, since both my family and my husband's family live in southern Massachusetts.
My husband is in the United States Army. He works for the Army National Guard in Bedford, MA. He has been in the Army for 30+ years and is currently a Colonel. He is the supervisor of the computer network for the Massachusetts Army National Guard. Needless to say, he is the one who answers all my technology questions!
My son, Chris is 16 years old and he is in eleventh grade, which I can hardly believe! He enjoys school but he LOVES playing sports and computer games. Baseball is the one sport that Chris loves and I think he knows more about baseball than anyone I know! Playing football, basketball, riding his bike, and watching Celtics games are some of his favorite things to do. This summer we have had many adventures as I began teaching Chris how to drive a car...yes, he will have his license in just a few months. Yikes! Katelyn, or Katie, is in seventh grade. Katie loves hanging out with her friends. She is a dancer , she has a great sense of humor and keeps us on our toes! Katie is a very happy girl and makes us smile everyday!
